What is treated by hyaluronic acid injection?

Hyaluronic acid injections are an attractive aesthetic solution to treat age-related changes in the quality and appearance of the skin. We can inject hyaluronic acid under the skin to fill and plump specific areas. Hyaluronic acid injections are used to:

-Fill in wrinkles

-Shape the cheeks

-Give volume and redefine the contour of the lips

-Reverse the phenomenon of facial ptosis

-Reduce the appearance of “small hollows” in the skin linked to acne scars or injuries

How are hyaluronic acid injections performed?

After cleaning the injection area with an antibacterial agent, a local anesthetic may be used to prevent pain. In some cases, the hyaluronic acid filler contains an anesthetic.

During the procedure, small amounts of hyaluronic acid are injected into the superficial or deep layers of the skin.

Once the procedure is complete, the doctor massages the treated areas to obtain optimal distribution of the injected product.

The procedure usually lasts less than 30 minutes, depending on the area to be treated.

How often are hyaluronic acid injections necessary?

The effects of hyaluronic acid fillers last for varying lengths of time, depending on the type of product used and the area in which it was administered. However, since hyaluronic acid eventually breaks down and is absorbed by the body, the effects are not permanent. To achieve long-lasting results, injections must be repeated every 6 to 24 months. 

 

What is the recovery time after a hyaluronic acid injection?

Most patients tolerate the injection without irritation or complications, and require no recovery time. However, immediately after treatment, the area may be red, swollen, and bruised; but this disappears within a few days.
